Under executive chef Tim Reading, who joined last spring when he replaced chef Nick Wong, GJ Tavern focused on “seasonally driven, tavern-inspired fare.” His menu included dishes such as Gulf oysters baked in chile butter, roasted bone marrow with chimichurri, roasted fish with gigante beans and seared bavette steak with wilted kale and bone-marrow vinaigrette. The tavern, which was rebranded as GJ Tavern in May 2022, always aimed to be more casual. The seafood-leaning Italian restaurant opened a few weeks ago.
